One day afternoon...

... during class, there were two students whispering about doing sort of working network for ourselves while the lecturer was busy speaking in front of the class. We get inspiration for this initiative from Gospel Coalition, TED.com, and Qideas.org.

This conversation was carried all the way through lunch. And it was there and then that this initiative received its seed idea.

Although we are from Trinity Theological College...

... we want this network to be inclusive of those from other institutions, groups, and organizations who share the same passion, vision and interest.

By the way, just so you know, we stubbornly hold on to apostle Paul's statement: "... yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist."

(1 Corinthians 8.6)

And we think that Jesus was serious in his prayer: "I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17.11)

Besides arguing with each other over whether Aquinas or Barth confuses us more...

... we organize meetings where individuals are assign to present on topics to be discussed and learned from. Seminars, debates, and conferences are what we do too. This is also a book club as well as a network, fellowship and learning group. Perhaps, we will write and publish hardcopy too.

Jason Ting (Assemblies of God)

... is undertaking a bachelor course at Trinity Theological College. His desire is "to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ."

His hope is "so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful scheme."

A father of three, a husband of one. Benjamin is interested in exploring the relationship between the contemporary conditions of Christian ministries with the 'Kingdom of God'. He is appointed to be the President of Trinity Theological College's Student Council from 2011 to 2012.

... is often being asked, "Why study theology?" His reason is that it is the next best subject after nihilism. "Why nihilism?" Because it shows how important theology is.

His main interest is in the interaction between theology and politics. He thinks that Aristotle is right to emphasize that "The student of politics [...] must study the soul..." (Nicomachean Ethics, Book 1.13). And which subject teaches the "soul" in the present time other than theology?

Other subjects he finds himself attracted to are South East Asia's Christianity, theological education, continental philosophy, philosophy of religion, Christian ethics/political theology, and Rowan Williams (a Presbyterian who appreciates Anglican theologian?)...

Zhe Hao (Brethren)

Picture
Zhe Hao's theological view: Brethren... (Means can agree to disagree with a lot of things... Within conservative evangelicalism...).

Zhe Hao's favourite 'theologian': KF Seetoh... (Zhe Hao wished he had KF Seetoh's job).

Zhe Hao's favourite website: hungrygowhere.com

Zhe Hao's favourite hobby: Preaching... (ask his wife... he preaches to her every night).

Footnotes: Basically, you'll probably get to know Zhe Hao better through a shared meal than the amount of information stated here. Yes... in case you are wondering, he does worship the Trinitarian God because of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. He's not that wacky.
